The ceramics program at UW-Madison is part of an internationally known research university with a remarkable history. Students in ceramics take part in an interdisciplinary program that emphasizes the relationship between the field of ceramics and diverse contemporary approaches to artistic practice, theory and criticism. The three-year graduate program emphasizes advanced visual research and includes extensive one-on-one interaction with faculty, guest critics and visiting artists. The ceramics program actively encourages a wide range of material practices, experimentation and collaboration with other areas of the art department and the larger university.
